Welcome to the Location of the Oldest 10 Commandments, the Only place on Earth where the full name of GOD is found upon an altar dedicated to Him, and the First place of worship established to the Biblical GOD in America!
It is ‘Hidden Mountain’ (5507’) in New Mexico having the local “Mystery Stone” as it is still called by the State, now named the ‘Phoenician Inscription Rock’ on the official maps or "Mystery Rock" in their 'area attractions' lists. The site is located 35 miles due SW of Albuquerque on Hwy 6 (Historic ‘Route 66’) at mm18 S of I-40 or 16 miles W of I-25 at Los Lunas (whence it has also been known as the "Los Lunas Decalogue").
It was an Israelite Wilderness Tabernacle site 2500 or more years ago, having a high place Altar dedicated to 'the LORD our God' of the Bible, and a massive 80 ton Decalogue Boulder Mezuzah ‘at the gate’ -dating from the ‘Old Testament’ period of the Paleo-Hebrew ‘mother script’. It is the only ’10 commandments’ yet found in the ancient writing -very nearly what it would’ve been given Moses in, anywhere on Earth. The writings closest match is the early inscription Samaritan-Israelite script found at Zenjirli in Turkey called Northern Aramaic dating to 850 BCE -accounting for 15 of the 21 letters here, most remaining letters are also an early Greek (Delta, Heta, Kappa, Tau) except an Iberian Qoph (dating to before the Celtic invasion of 530 BCE) and one is a unique form of Samech. Only the letter Teth / Theta isn't present in the immediate inscriptions, but is found in a more archaic form elsewhere.
Historically the mountain was called Cerro Los Moqujino (Cliff of the Strange writings) by the Native Americans stating it pre-existed the arrival of their ancestors into the area. The 1776 Dominguez-Escalante expedition got and sent back a rubbing of it for translation (unsuccessful), but it has not as yet resurfaced in the Old Church of Spain archives.
Since about 1800 early European settlers to the area witnessed it, including the father of one Simon Serna whose grandchild Florencio Chavez Sr. testified of in the Albuquerque “Heights News” article dated March 3, 1967.
In 1871 the grandson of the land grant beneficiary Franz Huning (who’d had the land since coming with the Railroad to Albuquerque about 1800) was shown the ‘old rock monument’ by local tribesmen according to his grandson Fred Huning. Thereafter other settlers saw the stone and ruins in 1883 and subsequently the place gained the title “Mystery Mountain”.
A 1926 geological exploration (for petroleum & mineral interests) brought Thor Warner who ascended the SE side to report it in ‘American Anthropologist’s 1928 article entitled “Rio Puerco Ruins” as a ‘Fortification Mesa’ “having in its slightly concave 50’ basaltic lava cap of about 60 acres the foundational remnants of over 100 individual rooms in several clusters, some 2’ high built of flat slabs cemented together with a caliche-adobe mixture”. Noting while not ever descending the “drainage basin on the NE side” so not coming to notice any of these inscriptions!
In 1936 UNM Anthropology Professor Frank Hibben, brought by an Indian guide saw the rock recalling it as dark colored, hard to make out, half buried in dirt, and covered in lichen. Not knowing the language he went on to explore the “Pottery Mound” (discovered by the previous) 5 miles downstream, leading volunteers with his Field Schools on informal digs, recovering the layers of kiva murals painted there by successive pre-historic Pueblo dwellers using it as burial chambers, without ever considering the original builders of its walls as connected to this Mountain.
In 1948 with the Paleo-Hebrew script found among the Dead Sea Scrolls in texts and fragments covering the oldest books of the Bible (Enoch, Job, Pentateuch) at first thought to be in a code script, Harvard Prof. Dr. Robert Pfeiffer translated (albeit pre-maturely) the inscriptions from photos provided by William McCart (showing then a small piece later missing) as being the 10 Commandments from the book of Exodus -and another inscription since removed being a marker from the entrance onto the butte above ‘sore foot gorge’ that read; “HaYeKaL B’TaMuMeY” ‘a Capacious-place, In My Completion’.
In 1953 five Mormon Archaeologists investigated the site concluding it ‘a fraud’, whereas two reported a 4th inscription in a smaller stone now missing further up stating with certainty that it read ‘Altar of the LORD’.
It therefore would’ve been; “MaDaBaHk L’YeHUaH” ‘Offering/sacrifice place, To (the TetraGrammaton)’
In 1978 a distraction took place sidetracking the public with a supposed ‘translation’ in the book “Weird New Mexico” presented in English by Dixie Perkins from her ‘little yellow book’ paperback “The meaning of the New Mexico mystery stone” as though it were the story of a Greek traveller ZAKYNEROS stranded and perishing! A scholar ought not bring insult to injury, but suffice to say LA (to us; Law) is "Not"! At least the Albuquerque Journal then ran several articles on the subject because of her, albeit misrepresented as an individuals memorial.
In 1980 the landowner reverted the area back to State Trust status, which it retains.
In 1984 “Discovery of Ancient America” by David Allen Deal was published and still is the best documentary of the site to date (though being hung-up on a date in the stars now found not exclusive to 106 BC)... In 1992 the second edition was published and came out to the world having internet so...
In 1993 the first images of “the mystery stone” hit the World Wide Web.
March 22, 2004 UNM associates with assistance of the Pueblo of Isleta Range Patrol relocated the Pottery Mound (explored by the late Dr.Hibben most of whose finds remain boxed & uncategorized and are now being considered for auction!), UNM now has obtained ownership of that site and the responsibility of its monitoring.
Fall of 2005 I arrived just 6 months after someone had pick-axed the top line so that it then appeared eradicated, actually its only surface effaced (except the word “brought out”), is still readable, and could be restored! That event occurred sometime in March, and subseqently I met those who had cleaned off the prior roofing tar incident using solvent & wire brushes! Since coming to settle 15 mi NW of this (where the Mtn can be seen distant from our patio) we’ve witnessed more abuse (mostly scuttling of stones with remnants of partying) and its continued neglect, as there is so0 little awareness of it even locally!
It’s been said there exists about 2,000 glyphs around Hidden Mtn. for a radius of about 6 miles. Here is a variety of about 100 of them in an introduction 'walk-around' of the immediate environs. Included are a couple of the associated Tabernacle features and some related glyphs. Now 2 years after coming to live out here nearby it and making the area our 'Home Base" we've been witness to the sites ongoing neglect and abuse (See Top Line Above) The next most significant locale Hebrew is not far away (in the Purgatoire River valley due South of La Junta Colorado), where the oldest written inscriptions in the US are (c.1250 BCE. conservatively), from the earliest Ligature phase of word-formation by 'tying letters together into a picture'. Those too have YaH inscriptions identifiable with the Exodus people, but has enjoyed the attention of Viewzone affiliates (Purgatoire) having had prolonged exposure on the internet already.
A number of other related sites await our revealing here (that altogether cover every major culture religion and period as being pre-Columbus visitors into America), but for now we've decided to keep the focus on this... then get to the others as yet undiscovered! | With the Railroad and settlers arriving to occasion it, and finally with the pre-1937 "Route 66" passing right by this prominent fixture in the local geography, it ought have been more widely recognized! But it wasn't until 1949 even identified and translated, and still went unrecognized as a Tabernacle! How could people see it's the 10 Commandments and not look further? Or upon seeing there's also an Altar not look further? How did they miss a whole complex of symetry that only "lines up" as a Tabernacle site? With the obvious similarity to our own letters in 'all Caps' needing only the language determined to be translated, it would've simply took comparing it to the text underlying the Bible to read it all along(!) yet the writing went unknown but by very few in scholarly academia and higher education! When I showed Jewish people in "Israel" this writing they'd always say; "That's not Hebrew!" but aligning the Alphabets of all periods this one is a perfect "missing link" right in the middle), the so-called 'evolution of scripts' shows to be perfectly sequencial, and only modern cursives a far departure! Phoenician trade being the shipping & receiving between all cultures brought mixed crews of many talents across the 5 continents where their writings have been found (colonizing for every produce from woods and animal skins, pottery and basket weaving, to stone and metals), and with the Hebrews shortest overland route between their sea and the South and East Ocean (they'd else have to go around Africa for) their benefit was doubly blessed, as the Biblos syllabary of characters was grown to nearly 300 getting too confusing for all but priests (who cleaned ordered & packed all goods). The greatest contribution made to the world in History was the alphabetic script, drawn by connect-the-dots from the stars of the Zodiac, uniting the world of various tongues with few exceptions (ng, J, zha) even preserving the “First tongue” original one world speech with the Hebrew language translating the earliest writings of man, while going on to carrying all the languages of commerce through civilizations history along with the very words of "God"! It’s now found anew amid America, where it so very closely resembles the letters on the keys we put our fingers to, that it's become obvious who we yet are and who the true discoverers of America were. Forgetfulness is exile while remembrance is redemption, so as we rediscover the meaning of our words we reconstruct the significance of our lives, in a world today needing so urgently from the free world to know its common origin and a strict definition of terms. Hebrew has preserved to us all the matters of world peace. The Alphabet written here, was the "word to the world" for a Millenium, and carried or was carried by all but the Chinese historically, and the place of worship is from a unique period in history of cultural & religious interactive cooperation which within America (where it is its oldest formal religious site) precluded its future potential for success, while opposite the globe their people by foreign invaders & conquerers- were being turned against one another! Here is truly an 'all peoples Tabernacle/sanctuary Church/Temple & Mosque' location making it the very best modern neutral yet Holy ground "Summit" meeting place for re-opening a dialog toward World Peace founded on a reestablishment of these solidly definite terms! THIS IS A MONUMENTAL CHANCE FOR US ALL to arrive at agreement and get right as a person a people a nation and a world!

Each one of these take about a week apiece, and a month so far of recuperation (if I ever recover) to accomplish! Inscription in stone is not easy at any great length, and these copies are about 220 wide-rule size letters negotiating the very same natural stone as the real one, and without errors! The scribe himself ("Tommy" after a monument marker mistranslated by a Harvard Prof one letter m'm as U) would've rejoiced to've seen these remakes, I'm resolved to keeping one myself! The actual massive rock (appearing like a small ship with cleared keel, maybe what attracted the attention to it), is of the volcanic basalt from the top Tertiary shelf. A remnant of geological prehistory, which fell 2/3 of the way down the mountain to become what now has stood ground 2500+ years as a massive Mezuzah. Set at a Right angle beside the main entry before a natural gateway to this ancient Tabernacle site with a Altar of the same writing but at exactly the opposite angle Left, facing the River where it flows away in a strait line perfectly perpendicular to it ~another possible connection here with the 850 BCE word used for God as GhUGhiL “water controller”)!
These copies of this rock being the greatest of only two ‘10 commandments’ in stone found anywhere in the world (the other being the “Ohio Decalogue” also in America, a much smaller example in a unique type of the post exilic Jewish square script) also utilizes the complete Alphabet, here is found the best example of the print closest to that written in the original tablets, as the Paleo is the only Hebrew having an equal size characters letter set which plotting on both sides of two tablets according to the accounts would've required. These remakes of it are correct down to the very angle it sets at, but without the ancient scribes mistake of overlooking a part afterward realized and inserted (with a diacritical mark^), with the corrected spelling of a couple of the words and addition of yet a couple more he passed up for an accurate to Exodus 20 reading abridgement of the full Decalogue (below unembossed)  We make these notepad rule lettered ones for smaller contributions over $500
